REALTOR is more than just a word or title.

In Arizona, as in many other states, being a REALTOR® signifies that a real estate professional is a member of the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) and adheres to a specific code of ethics and professional conduct.

Here's what it means to be a REALTOR in Arizona:

  1. Membership in NAR: To be a REALTOR in Arizona, an individual must join the National Association of REALTORS (NAR), the largest professional trade association for real estate professionals in the United States. NAR is a nonprofit organization that represents real estate agents and brokers.

  2. Code of Ethics: REALTORS are bound by a strict Code of Ethics established by NAR. This code outlines the ethical standards and principles that members must follow when dealing with clients, customers, and other real estate professionals. It covers areas like honesty, integrity, and professionalism in real estate transactions.

  3. Professional Conduct: Being a REALTOR means adhering to high professional standards. Members are expected to conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism and integrity when working with clients, colleagues, and the public.

  4. Continuing Education: REALTORS in Arizona are encouraged to pursue ongoing education and professional development. This helps ensure that they are knowledgeable about current laws, regulations, and industry trends and can provide the best possible service to their clients.

  5. Access to Resources: REALTORS have access to a wide range of resources and tools provided by NAR, including market research, legal updates, and best practices. These resources can be valuable for staying informed and helping clients make well-informed decisions.

  6. Advocacy: NAR represents the interests of REALTORS at the national level and advocates for policies that support the real estate industry and homeowners. Members have a voice in shaping real estate-related legislation and regulations.

  7. Networking Opportunities: Being a REALTOR often means having access to a network of fellow professionals. This can be beneficial for sharing knowledge, finding support, and making connections in the real estate industry.

It's important to note that not all real estate agents in Arizona are REALTORS®. To become a REALTOR, a real estate professional must pass exams, obtain a state license, participate in required continued education, pay membership dues, and commit to abiding by the NAR's Code of Ethics. This distinction is a sign of a commitment to high ethical and professional standards, and it can provide added confidence to clients seeking the services of a real estate agent in Arizona. Your own REALTOR®, Jan and Ben, are members of NAR, ARMLS, WESERV, American Warrior Initiative, Arizona Realtors, ARMLS, Institute of Luxury Home Marketing, Realty ONE Group, Supra, and Luxury Home Tour of Arizona.
